Certified Care Manager Directed Home Care

Through our Certified Care Manager Directed agency service, we provide caregivers who are employed directly through Morningstar Senior Solutions (MSS). Clients receive a weekly invoice, payable directly to Senior Solutions, and have an option of hiring a Home Health Aide, who can provide more hands-on care such as bathing, dressing, therapy and exercise, or a Companion, who can help with simpler tasks such as errands, transportation to appointments, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, or just companionship.

Certified Care Manager Directed caregivers meet our stringent requirements; as an employee of Morningstar Senior Solutions, they must have an acceptable criminal history and driving record, pass a physical, TB test and be CPR-certified prior to hire. Morningstar Senior Solutions ensures caregivers are bonded, insured, and covered under our Workers Compensation policy. All are required to have a minimum of 2 years experience as a caregiver and must successfully pass our skills examination.

Certified Care Manager Directed caregivers must also complete a series of seven competency exams annually, along with select training sessions in specific areas of care, such as Alzheimers, asthma, dementia, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, transfer techniques and skin care. This continuing, specific training ensures that they are better able to recognize warning signs and symptoms of your loved one’s condition, which can provide added safety or opportunities for preventive care.

Training and supervision is managed by one of our Certified Care Managers.  Our Certified Care Manager performs an initial assessment of all clients and develops an individualized Plan of Care (unless they are under the care of a home health or hospice provider). As appropriate, she will monitor the caregivers and make changes to the Plan of Care as the client improves or his/her condition changes.

Self-Directed Home Care

Through our registry home care service, caregivers are provided as independent contractors of Morningstar Senior Solutions. They will work directly for you or your loved one. An hourly rate is remitted directly to the caregiver, and a small percentage paid directly to Senior Solutions.

With self-directed care, Senior Solutions is responsible for interviewing, scheduling, finding replacements should your caregiver be sick, and testing and background checks (criminal history, TB test, annual skills test and PA State Competency requirements). Senior Solutions also maintains theft and liability insurance. As independent contractors, our self-directed caregivers work directly for your or you loved one; you maintain responsibility for directing them regarding the care and services required.

On behalf of our family, we want to thank you for all your kindness and professionalism. I know she was not an easy patient and we were not an easy family. Your efforts with the visiting companions kept her safe and sane in her home as long as possible. I know if my mother with her right mind could look back on all this, she would be most appreciative of that extra year in her home. Your patience with each of us as we figured out how to handle this new relationship with our mother was very much appreciated. I was especially grateful for your attending doctor's appointments with my mother. Clearly, you took the time to not only understand the key medical history for the doc, but also took the time to be respectful of my mother's feelings as you got answers to our questions. Every one of my mother's physicians commented to me how effective you were. This past year has been quite an experience for all of us. We appreciate all you and your colleagues did to guide us through this most difficult time. You are a talented and skilled nurse, and we were lucky to have you on our side. Thank you for all you do.
